A waybill is simply a book issued by a shipper giving instructions and facts pertaining to the delivery of a particular consignment of products. In most cases it will simply list the names of both the sender and recipient, the location of its destination, and its path. It is referred to as a" Scheduling Manual" or a" Documentation". In its simplest form waybill is an electronic document which contains all the necessary information for the safe movement of goods by a shipper in a particular time period, with the use of trucks and other transportation means.

A waybill must be issued by the carrier to which the shipment is going to be delivered. This is often referred to as a "Bundy", since it helps to keep track of all goods that are in transit, including the route of each shipment, the name and address of the shipper, and the name, address, and telephone number of each of its drivers. In addition it may also include instructions on the payment procedure of a claim and all relevant contract information.

An air waybill is a written document sent by the carrier to a shipper in advance of the goods' expected arrival. It contains all the same data as the waybill but is sent by air. In fact an air waybill may comprise many pages, each one detailing the shipment in turn. A balloon waybill, which is similar to an air waybill, is a balloon-shaped document that is sent by freight airlines. It contains only the destination and time of arrival.
