The topic on the future trends such as Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Machine Learning (M/L) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). In any supply chain management operation, there are risks that are inherent and some risks that are inherent to every operation. Some risks are external and others are internal, depending upon how the organization or business was established. When talking about warehouse operation and procuring materials, one of the most important considerations is energy consumption. Since energy use is directly tied with the cost of goods sold, it is important to have a good energy management strategy. In warehouses, there are some secondary considerations that must also be taken into consideration in order to improve the operation.

One of these considerations is related to the quality of raw materials. Some companies make the mistake of purchasing too many barrels of oil per day just so they can process light crude oil in their mills. These are wastes and should be recycled immediately, but there are a lot of companies that have no interest in doing this. Another source of waste is related to the amount of energy expended to process oil and the amount of water needed for the processes. A better warehouse management system should be able to reduce these costs through energy management and water management.

Many organizations are making the mistake of relying on primary sources of energy and materials, while cutting back on secondary sources. In fact, primary sources of energy and materials should be used up first and then secondary sources should be added gradually, so as not to deplete all the available sources. While these ideas may seem overly simple, the amount of energy and materials that is required to run an organization can be staggering.
