CIOP is an end-to-end supply chain certification program that focuses on practical aspects in addition to the theoretical concepts. For example, a typical supply chain certification may teach what is cycle counting and how to do the ABC classification. CIOP starts with these fundamental concepts and goes on to teach the participants to develop the cycle counting policy of an organisation, 10+ criteria used in ABC classification, multi-criteria ABC classification and cycle counting best practices to increase the efficiency and effectiveness. In case of CIOP, you learn the concepts and will be ready to implement in your day-to-day job in supply chain. The pedagogy is structured such a way that all the concepts are explained with industry examples, which makes CIOP as the preferred training and certification program for supply chain within the industry.

Artificial intelligence is the study of intelligence that is artificially generated, and therefore, is not dependent on humans or any other process for its generation. Artificial intelligence has been gaining a lot of popularity in recent times due to its applications in fields like computer science, military intelligence, manufacturing, etc.

However, one field that has been recently occupied by artificial intelligence is that of Supply Chain Management. In fact, Supply Chain Management is one of the most critical elements of warehousing and production management.

Supply Chain Management, simply put, is the management of the interactions between producers and suppliers. An example of such a system would be that of an agricultural cooperative; such a system would have all the components of an efficient and effective supply chain, if only humans would figure out how to make it work properly. With the advent of sophisticated computers and supercomputers, such notions are now within reach of even the brightest students in high school. Unfortunately, human minds are too weak and too fallible to solve such complex problems without some sort of help... so where does Artificial Intelligence fit into all of this? Well, let me see if I can give you an example of Artificial Intelligence in a non-industrial context...

If we look back to the movies and television shows from the past 20 years or so, we can note that movies such as Star Wars, Robocop, and the like gave us a vivid demonstration of artificial intelligence in it's role in fighting evil... until they were defeated by superior human machines. It seems that humans are more than capable of defeating machines, which is currently proving to be true with the advent of artificially intelligent robotic machines (robot cars), planes, etc. We may also see artificially intelligent robotic assistants at work in our homes, doing menial tasks that will enable us to operate from various locations across the globe. All of this is happening because of Artificial Intelligence. The next time you read about Artificial Intelligence in other topics, remember that the next generation of artificially intelligent machines will do many of the same things that we are seeing today.
