A major part of good business management is finding the best qualified, reputable, and reliable suppliers. Many suppliers are willing to work with small businesses and established companies alike in the same manner that they would work with larger companies. It's very common for an established company to work with small businesses to grow their business and increase sales.
Small companies may have a difficult time finding a good supplier due to the fact that the supplier may not have a significant enough amount of experience, knowledge, or production capacity to meet the company's requirements. By reviewing an approved supplier list, small companies can ensure that they are putting together a solid partnership with a quality, dependable, and reputable supplier.
The manufacturing valley refers to the network of vendors, distributors, assemblers, material providers, and test engineers that make up the supply chain management system of any manufacturing operation. Each vendor or distributor plays a critical role in the entire supply chain. Vendor lists consist of a series of suppliers that have proven to work together over the years by delivering the goods that meet the requirements of the customer. This database contains information on all vendors with current business status ranging from fully Approved to Debarred, or New if you've never placed an order with that particular supplier. The database also includes supplier performance data so that companies can see how each vendor has performed across a wide range of parameters over time. In addition to providing companies with a list of highly rated, reputable, and reliable vendors, the manufacturer's directory provides information on the types of equipment, materials, services, and training that each vendor provides.
Finding the right vendors for your manufacturing process begins with the manufacturer's directory. Manufacturers must first review each supplier's selection of service/repair/warehousing options, then evaluate that information against their own product specifications and understanding of each vendor's unique setup, manufacturing philosophy, and sales and support responsibilities. Manufacturers must also confirm that they are not using the same suppliers to support their Complete Supply Chain programs as other companies in the industry. All of this calls for the assistance of qualified personnel from a procurement services provider.
